Kernal David Helton

Former Dundalk resident Kernal David Helton died Dec. 13 at Stella Maris Hospice Care at the age of 79. He lived in Cockeysville.
    {reg}Born to the late Kernal and Elizabeth Helton in Harlan, Ky., he was raised on Louth Road in Dundalk. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Anchorage, Alaska, from 1952 to 1957.
    He worked as a welder at Bethlehem Steel in blast furnace L, retiring after 33 years of service.
    In his spare time, he played cards at Atomic Club, where he was a longtime member. He also enjoyed football, watching Westerns, deer hunting in Frostburg and feeding his pet squirrel, Bob.
    Survivors include wife Ruth Helton, stepdaughters Amanda and Rose, former wife Mary Deisroth, son David M. Helton, daughter Cindy Smith-Helton, siblings Sybil Kelly, Vivian Wolfe and Robert Helton and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
    Graveside services  were held at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.{/reg}
