William Wagner

William John Wagner, 88, of Salisbury, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the late George Fred Wagner, Sr. and Margaret Conlon Wagner. “Bill” was a US Navy WWII veteran and a member of American Legion, Post 64. He worked as a Department Manager at Sears Department Store for 35 years, retiring in 1989. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and square dancing. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Margaret Louise Elliott Wagner; 2 sons, William Bruce Wagner and his wife, Valerie of Pittsville and Robin Michael Wagner and his wife, Debby of Salisbury; 4 grandchildren, William Bruce Wagner, Jr. and his wife, Julie of Parsonsburg, Laura Nicole Wagner of Pittsville, Shannon Marie Rieben and her husband, Todd of Delmar and Brittany Leigh Bowers and her husband, Aaron of Salisbury; 6 great grandchildren, Bryce, Haley, Peyton, Caiden, Carly and Cole; 2 brothers, Richard Charles Wagner of Roanoke, VA and Daniel Conlon Wagner and his wife, Phyllis of Richmond, VA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, George Fred Wagner, Jr and a nephew, George Fred Wagner, III. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Emmanuel Wesleyan Church with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Thomas C. Bunting will officiate.
