Laura Lee Lodge DeWeerdt, 59, of Salisbury, went to her Heavenly reward on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born in Islip, Long Island, NY, she was the daughter of Lee Ann Laegen Lodge of Salisbury and the late Frederick Lodge. Laura was a faithful member of Cross Pointe Church of the Nazarene, where she was actively involved in the choir and worship ministries. She and her husband were foster parents to over 50 children over a 20 year period. She loved spending time with her family, gardening, bird watching and writing poetry. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Paul George DeWeerdt; 7 children, Brian DeWeerdt, Crystal DeWeerdt, Daniel DeWeerdt (Jessica), James DeWeerdt (Brittany), Karen DeWeerdt and Ryan DeWeerdt, all of Salisbury, and Mark DeWeerdt (Jennifer) of Fruitland; 6 grandchildren, Noah, Hope, Bella, Emma, Eli, and Bethann; and 2 sisters, Alice Peterson (Ross) of Fruitland and Jennifer Merrill (Randy) of Salisbury. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Cross Pointe Church of the Nazarene in Salisbury with Rev. Joel Beiler officiating.
