Joyce Tribbett Pyle

Joyce T. Pyle, 81, of Sudlersville, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Corsica Hills Nursing Center of Centreville, Maryland, surrounded by her family. Joyce was born February 13, 1933 to the late Mary E. Walls and Dewey M. Tribbett. Her family lived on a farm, in Caroline County, Ridgely area, and after some time, moved to a farm in Queen Anne’s County, Church Hill/Sudlersville area. She spent many hours helping with all the farming activities growing up – ranging from milking cows, feeding & caring for the animals to driving the tractors, planting & harvesting crops. She attended Ridgely School and Sudlersville High School. She had a multitude of jobs to help support her family. She worked at Campbell Soup in Chestertown, Md., drove a Wilmington Journal paper route for several years, owned and operated a school bus, driving a route for Queen Anne’s County Schools. During her summers off from driving the school bus, she worked with produce at the Godfrey Farm. She also helped her daughter working at The Barclay Depot. Prior to her illness she resided at Foxxtown Apartments in Sudlersville, where she became good friends with many of the residents and enjoyed spending time with them playing Bingo, playing cards and listening to music. She used to bowl on a duckpin league in her younger years, and also coached a girls softball team (Joyce’s Swingers) for about ten years, which most of her daughters played on. She currently loved shooting shuffleboard and working word search puzzles. She was an avid sports fan, always pulling for her teams. She loved the Baltimore Orioles, Tennessee Titans and Nascar #88. She enjoyed being around her family which she is survived by. Her seven children, Joyce Hurlock (Phil), of Church Hill, Roger Pinder, of Sudlersville, Kay Hill (Paul), of Greensboro, Christi Lynch (Bill), of Henderson, Janice Pierce, of Smyrna, DE, Jo-Jo Wilson, of Centreville and Dhea Ann Rattray, of Crumpton, 17 Grandchildren, 27 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great-Grandchild. Also surviving are four step-children, which she thought of as her own, Wayne Pyle (Ginny), of Millington, Linda Beaver (Tommy) of Centreville, Lana Davenport (Garth) of Dover DE, and Glenn Pyle (Linda), of Millington, 7 Step Grandchildren and 11 Step Great-Grandchildren. Sisters, Barbara Lavendar of Salisbury, MD, Mary Boyles (Robert) of Dover, DE and a brother Dewey F. Tribbett (Gail) of Huntsville, AL and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, James R. Pinder. A funeral service for Joyce will be on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. in the Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro, Md. A visitation will be two hours prior, at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be in the Sudlersville Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers will be Grandsons, Steve Hurlock, Wayne Crossley, Charles Boyles, Jason Lynch, Joel Pierce, and Michael Pinder. The remaining Grandsons will act as honorary pallbearers. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of Queen Anne’s (255 Comet Drive, Centreville, MD 21617), The American Cancer Society (1315 Mount Hermon Road, Salisbury, MD 21804) or Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018).
