Sandra Lee “Sandy” (Tenney) Charland, 71, of 106 Gardner Road, Hubbardston, died peacefully Wednesday, September 23, 2015 in her residence surrounded by family. Sandra was born in Gardner on July 1, 1944, the daughter of the late Charles and Nellie (Dunchus) Tenney. She graduated from Murdock High School of Winchendon and attended Stevens Business College of Fitchburg. She was the Coordinator of Accounts Payable of Anna Maria College of Paxton for several years, retiring in 2005. Following retirement Sandra drove special needs students to school and programs with Van Pool Transportation of Barre. Her caring, compassionate nature made her a favorite with both her students and their families. Sandy was extremely talented and enjoyed crafts, baking, sewing and knitting. But her real passion was painting; in water colors, oils and acrylics. Sandy also treasured spending time with her family. She leaves her husband of 47 years, Richard Charland of Hubbardston; two sons, Christopher J. Charland and his wife Jennifer of New Ipswich, NH and Gregory M. Charland and his wife Karen Pellett-Charland of Hubbardston; eight grandchildren, Joshua, Emma, Zachary, Tyler, Dylan, Olivia, Roger and Katelin Charland; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Sandy also leaves her beloved cocker spaniel “Sunny”. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Everett Tenney. A Celebration of Sandy’s Life will be held Saturday, October 10th from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Kamaloht, 1 North Main Street, East Templeton. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Gardner Relay for Life, 350 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA 01604. Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner is handling the arrangements.
