Shirley Faye Lankford Whayland of Seaford passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Delaware Hospice in Milford. She was 64 years old. She was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi on May 19, 1952, the daughter of Charles Archie Lankford of Crisfield and the late Lois Eckoff Graham. Shirley graduated from Crisfield High School in 1970. She had previously worked at A & P Stores, MD National Bank, Nations Bank, and Bank of America. She enjoyed playing softball and bowling. She attended Gethsemane Church in Reliance. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 44 years, Barry Whayland, a daughter, Rebecca Jeffries of Virginia Beach, VA, two granddaughters, Miciah Whayland of Harrisonburg, VA, Madyson Jeffries of Virginia Beach, VA, a great-granddaughter expected to arrive in December, Kensley Mae, a brother, Charles Lankford and his wife, Burnie of Seaford, a sister-in-law, B. Sue Dailey of Salisbury, three nieces, Jody Soukup, Laura Jean Lankford, Christine Lankford, seven nephews, Christopher Lankford, Steven Lankford, Jason Lankford, Eric Lankford, Robert Lankford, Scot Dailey, and Todd Dailey, and several great nieces and nephews. Besides her mother, she was preceded in death by her younger brother, Terry Lankford. Memorial service for her will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Gethsemane United Methodist Church in Reliance with Pastor Todd Hurley officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10-11 a.m. Interment will be private.
