Florence Naomi Simms of Federalsburg, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, September 15, 2018. She was 93.
She was born on May 2, 1925 in Federalsburg, the daughter of the late John Johnson and Mary Robinson Johnson. She also was preceded in death by her husband, George Simms on January 15, 2017.
Florence graduated from Lockerman High School. She had previously worked in factories, Head Start, and served as a home housekeeper for many families. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Federalsburg and Eldorado, where she had served as usher, Sunday School Teacher, secretary, and worked with the youth.
Florence is survived by her daughter, Florence Brittingham of Federalsburg, three grandchildren, Stanley Ricketts, Jr. of Federalsburg, Angela Ricketts-Murray of Hurlock, and Jason Brittingham of Federalsburg, 12 great-grand, 2 great-great-grand, Tryie Green of Federalsburg whom she raised like a grandson, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Iola Littlejohn, Magdalene Briggs, Mildred Palmer, Monroe Johnson, and four brothers, Monroe Johnson, George Johnson, Herbert Johnson, and John Johnson.
