Cheryl (Reed) Ziegler

The family of Cheryl (Reed) Ziegler wish to share word of her passing on October 31, 2018 at the age of 62.

Cheryl will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 42 years Paul R. Ziegler Jr. She is the loving mother of Alexandra (Garett), step mother to Kathie Kirkland (Jeff), and Mark Babbage, Sister in Law to Ellen Florio (Richard), Nephews Sam (Denise), Sean (Dara), Chris (Katie). She is the proud Grammy of Colin, grandmother to Nicholas (Amy), Tanya (Aaron), Renee (Miles) and great grandmother to Rylee and Taryn.

Cheryl was born on March 28, 1956 in Cumberland, Maryland to parents Ina and Bernard Reed (both deceased). She is part of a large family Sister, Barbara Miller (Dave) – Sister, Debra Rowley – Sister, Susan Reed (deceased) – Brother, Randy Reed (Peggy) – Brother, Glen Reed (Kimberly, Deceased) – 2 nieces and 5 nephews, 8 great nieces and nephews.Cheryl and her husband Paul enjoyed living in Chicago area since 1977, most recently in Des Plaines. They enjoyed music and socializing with family and friends, especially her best friend Renee McCarthy.

Cheryl’s happiest times were spent enjoying time spent at home with her beloved family. She was an avid gardener and loved the time spent working in her garden with her grandson Colin. Cheryl worked as an IT Systems Analyst for Bosch for the past 15 years. She traveled to Germany and Paris multiple times over the years and her contributions to the organization will be greatly missed.

A memorial visitation will be taking place on Saturday, November 10, 2018, beginning at 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 5:00 p.m. at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois 60016. For info please call (847) 699-9003. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Lung Association in Cheryl’s name.

Family and friends will be received locally at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, MD, on Saturday, November 17, from 2 to 5 p.m. A memorial service will immediately follow visitation at the funeral home at 5 p.m.
