Jefferson, OH – Mary E. Hill, 93, died Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at Jefferson Healthcare where she had been a resident for the past year. She was the oldest child of Edward C. and Rhoda (Landis) Wagus, born on September 16, 1925 in Stringtown, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers, Robert, Donald and William Wagus.
She was married to the late Robert P. Hill, whom she married on April 4, 1945, in Cumberland, Maryland. Graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1944. Mary loved to dance, bowl, take walks, do counted cross stitch and was a beautiful seamstress. Also, she was a past member at the V.F.W. in Ashtabula. Most of all, she loved her family and spending time with them as much as possible.
She is survived by her two daughters, Shirley (Joe) Kearney, Orwell, OH, and Darlene (Mike) Adams, Jefferson, OH; sisters, Margaret Wilkins, Cumberland, and Henrietta Chase, College Park, MD; brother, Edward Wagus, Cumberland; grandchildren, Christian (Jonika) Kearney, Pierpont, OH, Karla (Scott) Wludyga, Concord, OH; and three great-grandchildren, Joshua and Elise Kearney, and Liam Wludyga.
Family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Thursday, December 6, 2018, from 10 to 11 a.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home immediately following visitation at 11:00 a.m.with Rev. Harold McClay, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Cooks Mill Cemetery, Hyndman, PA.
