Edaline Margaret Cameron (nee Martin), affectionately known as “Miss Meg,” age 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

She was born on December 3, 1931 in Ewarton, St. Catherine, Jamaica to the late Daniel Martin and the late Josephine Francis.

Edaline was a certified nursing assistant at Lorien Nursing Home before she retired. She was a life-long learner who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life be it regaling family and friends with stories that made them laugh out loud, or cooking hearty meals, or doing her word puzzles or watching the Food Network channel. She had a smile that lit up a room and her vibrant and nurturing personality will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her husband, Segismond Cameron; two daughters, Nesta Henlon and Pamela Edwards; two sons, Errick Henlon and Patrick Cameron; two daughters-in-law, Patricia Henlon and Cecille Ying-Cameron; nine grandchildren, Deliah Lawrence, Kingsley “Chris” Cruickshank, Richard Ellis, Derrick Edwards, Valentine Brown, Eric Henlon, Tricia Henlon, Kirk Henlon, and Kerica Henlon; eleven greatgrandchildren; and many relatives and dear friends.

  1. I loved Edaline. She was there when my mother died in 1993, when my children arrived 24 years ago and when her mother died some years later. I called her my Jamaican Mama and she was very special to me. I will miss her laughter, her appreciation and her hugs. I wish Patrick and all her family full grieving and eventual joy in the memories of this wonderful woman. I feel fortunate to have known your Mom. She will live on in my heart.
